People struggle with the name! It's actually Drew's middle name, being the name of a Welsh speaking poet from antiquity. And it's pronounced NEI-rin.

That's NYE (as in "bye") - Rin (as in Rin Tin Tin). 😀

For Drew, in almost everything he does, he does together with others. That includes not only all his recording, his productions and promotions, but also his gigs. Most of his gigs are duos with his wife Marie Louise, or trios with Marie and Earl St John, or full bands with a range of different musos. The full band came to be known affectionately as "The Star Shaped Pegs," and "Drew Neirin and the Star Shaped Pegs" became a common headline.

Still, it proved rather long to fit on a poster. Then there was never a gig when people didn't ask whether the Pegs were one, or two, or three, or four...

So the search was on for something that denoted everything, without needing a host of changing names. Bye and bye, "Neirin" came to be what people used, and that seemed to work just fine. So now "Neirin" isn't just Drew's name, it's everything he does.
